Pulmonology Update

Saw the pulmonologist today and he was pleased that she doesn't have pulmonary hyptertension. He isn't sure why she is having as much chest pains or shortness of breathe but it is most likely the AVMs she has in her lungs. Basically at this point there isn't much else that can be done. She doesn't qualify for exception points for a liver transplant. AVMs in and of themselves don't qualify you without other symptoms and low platelets don't qualify you for exception points in and of themselves. The combination have caused 2 lung bleeds but that doesn't fit the definition of exception points either. So she is basically back between a rock and hard place. Fiona has been feeling better and he wants her to start increasing her exercise levels to see if she can get her heart and lungs back into shape so she can at least get back to trying to do something. She is to walk daily and slowly increase her distance and pace. Note: during the visit she became really faint. He had her lay down and found that her blood pressure suddenly dropped. So this might be an electrolite problem? The results of her event heart monitor aren't in yet so didn't hear what that showed...we know she is tach almost daily.

If Fiona starts feeling better she is going to try to go to the local community college and try taking one course to just get back into the swing....if the liver doctor will let her drive. Otherwise, she will have to try to get a class when I am available to take her and pick her up.
